Our Story

Our story began in Germany, where Otto Barth operated three butcher shops and a butcher cart. ​In 1940, seeking to escape the regime and find new opportunity, Otto brought his family to the United States and opened the original Barth’s Pork Store in Irvington, New Jersey. With the growth of the business, he relocated to New Providence in 1960, and Barth’s Market has been operating in the same location since that time. In order to better meet our customer’s needs, the store was expanded in 2003 and most recently in 2017. Our owner, Jim Barth, is the third generation Barth operating the business. Jim’s son, Max, is helping run the business into its fourth generation

Barth’s prides itself on providing its customers with the highest quality and freshest products available. All of our homemade cold cuts, sausages, and cured meats are prepared using recipes that have been handed down for generations. Our artisan butchers really know their meats! Beyond our meats, we source seafood, produce, and specialty grocery items. Our recent expansion has allowed us to offer our customers a wider variety of products including salads and create-your-own sandwiches as well as a hot food bar, with daily dinner specials.
